Spritely Happy Fun Time!

So I bought Terraria a while back on Steam when it was on sale for 4 bucks or something like that, but I didn't play it much because shortly after setting up a multiplayer server so my husband and I could play together, we exceeded our bandwith for the month and had no internet for about three weeks.

Terraria being on Steam, which requires the internet, I didn't play much again for fear of running up our bandwith. Until today, I decided to try it out. I started up a new world, and found with glee that all of the items my husband (who is a Terraria veteran) had thrown at me during our brief multiplayer stint stuck with me. So I had great weapons and armor.... but I had no idea how to play. So I'm working my way through a world save named Cherry Chapstick and I don't know what this thing is that I found under my house. And it's not very far under my house, either. Yes, I know I could look it up. But I am lazy in a strange way, and instead of taking 30 seconds to look it up on Google, I'm going to take five minutes + however long it takes you, my mythical readers, to respond, and ask if you know what this thing under my house is and how I get rid of it.

Yes, I know it's dark and hard to see. Please tell me what this thing is though.

Also, if you know of any reliable, easy to navigate Terraria guides, I'd be greatly grateful. (......?)

Greatly grateful????

Happy Autumn!

Squid and I have been slowly enjoying bits of the new Lotro expansion, Rise of Isengard. To celebrate Autumn and it's none-too-early arrival, Squid came up with a rather festive outfit and attempted to share her happiness with a new-found, errr, friend at the Dunlending city of Galtrev. It didn't go so well.

Squid and her new half-orc friend-thing.
More posts on the loremaster's adventures through Isengard to come!

.... not that any of you out there in the great big Interwebs actually reads this.

The Yule Fest

I know this is late, the Yule Fest is over. But I found these in my screenie file, and didn't want to just delete them. Instead of your normal Yulefestery, this year Turbine gave us a whole new area with Frostbluff. It had several activites, like an eating contest, a very fun little theater instance, and a snowball fight. There were others, I just can't remember them at this point in time. Oh, and one of the cool things about this festival is it was the first time in the game you are asked to make a moral decision based on what you have learned through the story. Once you have made your choice, that's it. No going back. Also, this is the last time I will mention that moral dilemma. It was a bit traumatic to make. Not that anyone cares, and several people thought that the new Frostbluff area this year wasn't that great, but I thought it was pretty cool, so I will share a few screenies I took with you, the theoretical reader (because we all know you don't exist. I'm writing to the vast emptiness of the internet here, and there is no one out there).

Here we have a view of the snowball fight, and me and Squid's lovely blue outfits. Also a view of some poor sucker who bought that $25 horse.

As a Loremaster, Thyrra has lots of animal friends, but not all of them are .... 'pets.' Edinburgh the fox, for instance, never listens to anything Thyrra says and will get up on the table and eat pie, regardless of her protests. Or, lack of protests, in this shot. I guess she's resigned herself to fate.

Here is Squid on her Hobbit Pan, who is sitting on her pony.... and isn't she just the cutest hobbit you will ever see? Squee! I want to hold it!

I found out how to get onto the roof of one of the houses, and Indy had some fun dancing around on the chimney for a few minutes until someone shot fireworks at her.

And finally, a shot of Indy and Squid at sunset in Frostbluff, on our new Glittering Yule Steeds, this year's addition to the festival horses.

Now just to wait and see what they do new for Springfest this year.

Video Games and the Movies

I've been seeing trailers for this movie called "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" floating around, and while I know I don't normally talk about movies here, I felt since the film seems to have an awful lot to do with video games I would mention it. Especially since their website has this fun little character creator.

See? I made me ^_^

If I was better at drawing comic-style art, and had a reason to draw myself (wow I suddenly sound very narcissistic) I suppose this is how I would make myself look. Except maybe taller. That chick up there looks a bit on the petite side, and I'm not that, for certain.

A Night with the Loremasters

So tonight sis and I finally went questing (yay for questings!) and this is a brief summary of what happened:

We started off in the Misty Mountains, where I gave sis the scroll that would let her summon her very own fox! It is a rare item, and I was glad I found it on the AH, so I grabbed it for her, cause I'm nice like that.
Isn't he adorable? Then we did ONE quest to get just that much farther in the epic line, but then we were stuck at a full fellowship quest, and when we asked for help, we were met with the news that Turbine is nerfing ALL of Volume I, to my great dismay (and tiny joy. Now I might be able to finally get my white horse). In other words, if we wait till Monday, when they make the changes, we might not need the help and should be able to do it on our own.

Here we are in the Misty Mountains while I tried to get my mic working again. Thankfully my headphones didn't die on me this time. Just in-game problems. Sis, of course, is looking radiant as always, all shiny in the moonlight, while I look like a dork and don't even have my eyes open. Typical.

Then we went down to Rivendell, where we contemplated fishing in a lovely little water hole we found, until we noticed this strange bubbly bit of water. It intrigued us greatly.

Then we were bored, and started swimming about in the water. It was a lovely swimming hole, after all, and a welcome break from the cold mountains we had just left.

Then we were joined by a couple Kinmates, and ran up to Forochel, where we killed many mooses (meeses?) and wolverines and wargs. Sis also discovered that she cannot play the Lute well. So she smashed it and I threw the bits in the nearby campfire.

All in all it was a lovely night, and except for us wandering too far ahead of our level and getting ourselves killed (repeatedly) by mobs much stronger than we were, it was loads of fun. I love running with my sis ^.^
